Week-16
The past week was very busy for me so I didn't do much origami. I really have to keep practicing so I can complete my goal before the end of this project. This week I did start to work on the actual presentation of my project. I'm still working on the exact style of my presentation, but I am still excited to actually present everything I've been doing this past semester.

Week-14
This week I didn't do much origami. I mostly just did a lot of research on 3-D origami. I had never seen it before and I was interested to see how it is done. I thought it would be filled with very intricate folding, which some pieces do include, but most pieces I saw were not that way. I learned that you have to make much smaller and simpler pieces and it's the arrangement of those pieces that make the 3-D origami look so complex. This week, I want to actually try a 3-D piece and see how it goes.

Week 12
In the beginning of this semester, my goal was to just learn origami and create a lot of difficult things with only paper. After looking at a couple of origami tutorials this week I found instructions for 3-D origami which seemed fun to try. I think that now, my goal is to complete a few 3-D pieces as well. Hopefully they will be successful.

week 11
I've continued to do the medium level of origami, like I mentioned last week. It's pretty hard, but I know it will get easier. I had a lot of time towards the end of this week, so that's when I did most of the origami. It was still calming, even though I wasn't even stressed. I was really proud that I was able to make an origami heart, which seemed very hard to do at first. It turned out pretty nice but I didn't take a picture of it.

Week 10
This week I did a lot of origami. It was a pretty stressful week for me and I finally sat down and did origami to relax for a bit. It was nice to have a calm moment to just focus on something that wasn't causing stress or was boring. I also think I'm beginning to get a lot better at origami. I've now tried doing the medium level of origami instead of going straight to the beginner level, and it isn't that bad. It is still quite difficult, but not impossible.

Week 9
This week I actually had a lot of time to do origami. There wasn't much homework because of PARCC and we (GSA) planned Day of Silence at school instead of at home. So, while I was at home, I started working on origami boxes. They were pretty hard because each side had to be exact and all folds had to be at the right angle. Eventually I got it though. These boxes were definitely the hardest thing to do so far, but I'm still excited to keep on going.

Week 8
This past week wasn't productive at all. I didn't do any origami, even though this would've been the perfect week to do it. I was very stressed from school and just life in general. I needed to sit down and do something relaxing like origami, but I couldn't make the time for it. Next week I'm hoping that I'll have a lot of down time because of PARCC (unfortunately), and I will be able to do a lot of origami.

Week 7
Before spring break I found a tutorial on how to make origami rabbits. I ended up making a few of them for Easter, but they didn't come out to well. It was pretty difficult and I'm glad I was able to do it, somewhat. For the rest of spring break I just continued making random animals, flowers and other things I found online.

Week 4
This past week I haven't really done anything different. I'm still watching tutorials online and trying to fold my own origami. However, I finally got colored origami paper. Now the things I make will look nicer than just using notebook paper. I am much more excited now to continue with my origami.

Week 3
This week, I tried to create an origami boat. I remember seeing a friend make this once so I wanted to try it out. It took quite a lot of tries but I eventually figured out how to do it right. That one was a lot easier to do so it did not take much time. I've also decided to dedicate Wednesdays after school to do origami. I don't have any after school activities on that day so I'm hoping this scheduling will work for me.

Week 2
So the first thing I tried to make was a polar bear. It turned out pretty bad, but I'm not disappointed because it was my first time trying it. However, I did successfully make a paper box, which was cool. I think I'm going at a good working pace, but I want to do more origami during the week. I need to make more time for it, and maybe making a simple schedule/routine for it would help.

Week 1
When searching for origami basics, I found a website that explains the different types of folds often used. I had no idea that people named the way you folded paper, but when I thought about it, I can see how it is useful. The website also has a lot of origami tutorials which I will definitely use later on.

Proposal #2
Myia Samuels
Mrs. Roy
Humanities
9 February 2016
My main goal for this semester is to learn how to create about 10 to 15 different things with paper.
For this project to be successful, I will need to do a lot of practice. I plan on spending most of my in-school twenty percent time watching videos and other tutorials, and then actually doing origami outside of school. This way, I won’t have to bring stacks of paper to school. I am also hoping that this could be a stress reliever, and that it will relax me.
An easy thing about this project is finding supplies. My mom used to do scrap booking, so I still have unused paper of all sizes and colors. I will most likely still need more paper, but fortunately, paper isn’t hard to find. Also, I won’t need any supplies other than the paper and my hands. Although, this does seem simple for now, I’m sure I will come across some difficulties and many paper cuts.

20% Time Proposal #2
Last semester, I decided to do HTML coding for my 20 Percent Time Project. While that was fun to learn, I will not continue coding for my next project. This semester, I want to learn how to do origami. I’ve always admired people who can create amazing things with only paper, so I wanted to try it out for myself. My main goal for this semester is to learn how to create about 10 to 15 different things with paper.

Final Reflection
This 20 percent time project was actually really fun, and I was able to achieve my goal. I learned how to HTML code even better than I thought I would. I was able to make a website I'm really proud of. I learned a lot about myself and how I need to work on time management. Although I did have fun with HTML coding, I don't think I would continue with this for next semester. I'm not sure how I would be able to change it up and keep it interesting for the next presentation. I am glad that I was able to do this 20 Percent time project and I cant wait for the next semester.

Reflection #14
I'm happy to say that my website is almost done. I still have some finishing touches to do, but I am not worried because it is mostly for the aesthetic of the page. I may add in a few more pictures or change the color of the background, but nothing major. I am just glad that my website is almost finished! This week I plan on making those last changes and begin working on the actual presentation of my 20% time project.

Reflection 13
This winter break was very productive. I was able to do a lot to make my website better. It was very simple and basic, so I took the time to make it more complicated and interesting. I am much more happy with my progress now that I have made these changes and I am excited to see the final product. I've actually stopped using CodeAcademy because of these changes and I am currently working on Notepad. It makes things easier because I can quickly go back and forth between files instead of trying to fit all of my code on one file. My main goal was to challenge myself and really learn about HTML coding and I finally feel like I am getting close to achieving that goal.

Reflection 12
I am actually quite happy the progress I've made over the past week. I finished up the basic look, and design for my website and now i just have to input the writing in different sections. This week I don't think i will get much done because of a huge presentation/project for English and History. Hopefully over break I can add more and complete the unfinished parts of my code. I will continue to do lessons on CodeAcademy to learn anything else that may help make my website more polished.

Reflection 10
This week I have just continued adding more to my code. I still have A LOT to do and I honestly do not know how soon I can finish this up. My school workload is increasing and I need to manage my time better. This past week wasn't very productive, and I am a little disappointed that my code isn't as complete as I expected it to be at this point. For this future week it will be a high priority to get as much done on my code as possible.

Reflection 9
This week I learned more about the aesthetic design of an HTML code. I didn't realize that you had to basically make another file that is a CSS code to make the website more aesthetically pleasing. I always thought that everything was done on the same file. I also added more to my code and continued to do lessons on CodeAcademy.

Reflection 8
This week I honestly did not get to do much work on my code. I joined a website called Code Academy to learn more about the actual design and aesthetic of my future website. They have a variety of lessons and activities to help teach HTML coding. I did a few of the lessons and they are helpful, but I did not feel the need to include them in my code just yet. I still have a lot to do, so this week I will try to add as much to my code as possible on my days off.
