Reflection #6
My project is to learn how to braid hair, install, and style hair. This week at my cheerleading practice, I cornrowed multiple different hair textures. A few friends and I were not apart of the routine so I spent an hour practicing on different people with a plethora of different textures. I did three big braids on one friend with straight, silky, and shorter hair. I did a few braids on my friend with tight curls and another few on a friend with a wavy curly pattern. One thing I've been noticing is that due to time restraints and inpatient friends, I braid really thick cornrows and need to cut down the size for a weave because the braids must be very tight and small to make the hair closer to the scalp and to give off a natural appeal. Also, I typically braid without a clean part and nothing to hold the excess hair and the braids become sloppy, but I only do that so my friends do not have time to say no to me practicing in their hair. Furthermore, I tried to braid in a circle, but my friend would not let me, so I stopped since my hair doll is my locker. Next week, I will work on getting the braids smaller and try to start the circle.
